Information:
Hello, I’m Bluebell. If you’re looking for a clever, brave little dog to steal horses with, I’m the absolute best. No, seriously, I’ve got some excellent herding skills. You can read all about how I came to be in my origin story. And we’ve been around since the days of the Celts. So, grab a coffee, sit down in front of a crackling fire and listen up – here’s the story:

Once upon a time, the Elven Queen Mab, together with her huntsman Dark Edric, led her court out of their caves to ride through the Welsh forests by moonlight.
Their mounts were small, red-and-white dogs, magnificently saddled and with bells around their necks. One of these dogs was thrown to the ground by a poacher’s trap.
Unable to help, since iron – as everyone knows – spells certain death for elves, the elves stood there, desperately pondering a way to help the dog and the elves, whom they did not wish to leave to die.
Then two little human children appeared, offering to push the trap away from the dog and its rider and to heal them with medicinal herbs. The children braved the dangers of the night. They were the children of a shepherd, out at night because their best sheep had gone missing. They pushed the trap aside and tended to the elf and the dog with pain-relieving oak bark and blackberry leaves.
Out of deep gratitude, Queen Mab rang her little bell. Two small puppies appeared, with short legs, strong and sturdy, their eyes sparkling with intelligence.
“These are elf dogs,” said Queen Mab. “Swift, sturdy and clever. They guard sheep as well as other livestock, and once you have them, you’ll never have to worry about losing a sheep again.”
The puppies grew up and had puppies of their own. They ensured that the shepherd’s family became prosperous. They called this breed of dog Corgi.
“Cor” means dwarf in Welsh and “Gi” means dog.

Don’t believe the story? Then take a look at us: even today, you’ll find a lighter stripe behind our shoulders, the fairy saddle, which comes from the saddle girth. And keep an eye out for St John’s Day: we’ll be tired then, because every year at midsummer the elves come in the night to ride the Corgis, so that they never forget their origins.

On 22 December, some of these magical creatures arrived on Earth once more, seeking people who can love them and by whom they can be loved. Our mum is a very calm, loving lady. She avoids any quarrel and is delighted by everything shown to her.
We know from our dad that he is a fearless and irreproachable hero, with a beautiful red coat and impeccable posture. Our owner says she has very rarely seen such a peaceful litter – and she should know, having bred dogs for 47 years. If you’re still looking for a name: our naming theme is myths, fairy tales or legendary figures!
